Second Trimester Update

Second Trimester Update

Firstly, an apology is needed. I did originally plan on carrying on my weekly pregnancy updates on the blog, but clearly from the title of this post, that hasn’t happened. Truth be told, there wasn’t enough changes in my pregnancy to warrant an update every week, even every 2 weeks. So here I am, with a second trimester update. Please forgive me! I do plan on doing more regular updates towards my due date, as I’m sure I’ll have more to update on.

Apologies for the awful decor, it’s getting ripped out soon!

How many weeks?

28 weeks, officially in the third trimester now!

Due date?

25th August 2018

How’s baby doing?

My little one is now the size of papaya, around 34-37cm! He or she is basically fully developed, and now just needs fatten up before their exit. I already feel like this baby is a big one, so it’ll be interesting to see the birth weight of this baba.

Symptoms?

Apart from the glamorous perks of getting a big tummy (aching back, sciatica, heartburn), I haven’t had a massive amount of symptoms. I’m really suffering from baby brain though, my other half is joking that I’ve started talking like the sloth from ‘Zootropolis’ (if you know, you know!).

I honestly can’t string a sentence together a lot of the time. I’ve been doing things like forgetting to take my purse out, and getting my words all muddled up. Even R has been correcting me! You know there’s an issue when your 4 year old is telling you how to speak, haha!

Sleeping is getting to be a bit of an issue, especially when the two bed invaders arrive any time from 4am, there’s hardly space to breathe, let alone sleep!

I know I’ve put on quite a bit of weight, however I haven’t weighed myself recently, so not sure exactly how much I’ve put on! I’m trying to not let it bother me, but seeing photos of myself makes me realise I’ve grown a lot!

Baby kicks and squirms all day long, it’s obviously very reassuring, but slightly uncomfortable, especially at night. The kids and the husband have all felt baby move, the 4 year old loves to feel the kicks.

How are you feeling?

The weeks are flying by now, and it’s making me feel pretty unorganised! I’ve got so much I’d like to do before this little one arrives, but I’m not too sure we’ll be able to fit it in. I’ve not even started on packing my hospital bags, and I still need to get a crib.

We’re still not really set on any names, there’s a few I like, but we never seem to be able to agree.

I’m feeling absolutely fine about the birth itself. I’ve been going through the Positive Birth Company digital pack, and it’s actually making me look forward to going through labour and giving birth again!

We’ve got a 3D/4D scan booked for this week, and I am so excited! We’ve never had one before, so I’m really interested to see if baby will bear any resemblance to their older siblings. We plan on taking the kids, and I can’t wait to see how they react to seeing their baby brother or sister on the screen (more the 4 year old, E is only 2 so not sure she’ll quite grasp what’s going on!).

I’ve also got a midwife appointment this week, the first in ages. I think this is the first one they measure your tummy, I imagine I’ll be bang on track, but who knows!

So there we have it, my second trimester update! I’ve probably forgotten lots, but as I’ve already said, baby brain!

I plan on doing another update after my next midwife appointment, which is in around a month’s time!
