5 fabulously frugal things I’ve done this week

It’s been quite a while since I did one of these! I’d love to get back into sharing frugal things I’ve done during the week – even if it’s just to remind myself to try and not spend. So here are the things I’ve done this week to try and save myself some pennies.

1. Sold things on eBay – it had been quite a while since I sold anything on eBay – I just got out of the habit, plus I ran out of things to sell! With baby number 3 having arrived, I’ve been clearing the upstairs as much as possible to make space. I managed to sell some old pram wheels for £15, then some nursery furniture for £20. I also put on eBay the curtains we’ve taken down in our bedroom. I’m hoping to get £50 for those!

2.Got a new phone – shopped around and got a refurbished one – after having my phone for around 3 years, the screen broke on it again (3rd time in 5 months). Instead of paying out £100 again, I shopped around and got a good deal on an iPhone 7. I was only paying £9 a month as I was on sim only, so I will be paying more, but plan to go onto sim only again once the 2 years of paying has ended.

3. Did some mystery shopping – something else I haven’t had time to delve into for a while – I was contacted by a company I use to do mystery shopping through a few months ago – they needed someone to visit a local restaurant – all paid for of course. Obviously I didn’t really ‘earn’ any money from it as such, but got a free family meal out!

4. Bought a bundle of clothes from eBay for number 2 – in a couple of days, October will be here, as will the cooler weather. My youngest needed a whole new wardrobe of clothes as she is now in the next size. I scoured eBay and bought a massive bundle of clothes for £50. It’s basically knitted her out for Autumn/winter, so I was pleased with that!

5. Used the apples from our garden – We’re fortunate to have a giant apple tree in our garden. I’ve managed to get round to stewing some of the apples in preparation for a crumble I’m going to make tomorrow. There are so many apples I’m anticipating lots of apple related baking over the coming weeks, my poor waist line!

I’m linking up with Cass, Emma and Becky in this week’s ‘Five Frugal things I’ve done this week’ linky.
